A calming, restorative treatment that helps rebalance the body, ease tension and support overall wellbeing.
Reflexology is a gentle, non‑invasive complementary therapy that encourages deep relaxation and supports the body’s natural ability to rebalance. Specific points on the feet, hands, face or ears correspond to different areas of the body. By working these points with precise pressure techniques, reflexology helps ease stress, improve circulation and promote a greater sense of wellbeing.
The theory behind reflexology is that the body’s organs and systems are mirrored in smaller areas such as the feet and hands. By stimulating these reflex points, the body is encouraged to release tension, restore balance and function more efficiently. While scientific research is still developing, many people report improvements in sleep, mood, relaxation and overall wellbeing.
Reflexology has roots in ancient Egypt, India and China. In the early 1900s, Dr William Fitzgerald introduced “Zone Therapy” to the West, linking areas of the feet and hands to corresponding parts of the body. In the 1930s, Eunice Ingham developed this further into modern reflexology, mapping the feet and showing how tension in one area can reflect imbalance elsewhere in the body.
Reflexology is suitable for most people from newborns to older adults. There may be times when treatment isn’t appropriate, so if you have any concerns, simply get in touch and we can advise you.
Please note: Reflexology should not replace medical care or advice.
